Fun Food For The Bridal Shower
There’s so much you can have where food is concerned for a bridal shower and so much that you
can’t. So the easiest thing to do is to get what you can’t have out of the way. The bride comes first so knock off whatever she can’t or won’t have. Then cut out anything that could cause allergies, just in case somehow has some kind of food allergy. You could also check discreetly and find out if any of the guests do have any food allergies and if so, what they need to avoid.
Now for the fun part. Presumably you have a theme for the bridal shower so try and see that at least a few of the dishes fit into this. Besides that, a good idea would be to have a brunch party, preferably on a Sunday so it could stretch into a long, lazy afternoon. If it is informal, that would be nice because it will give all the guests a chance to move around and get to know each other. You could have a corner of fresh breads and another of fresh fruits. A lot of people have been serving bite size quiche and this could be a great idea. You could have the drinks counter on one side with a punch and cocktails as well as fresh fruit juices and coffee. Fruit based desserts like strawberries that are chocolate coated and lemon squares could finish it off quite well.
If an evening shower is preferable, then a casserole is perfect. You can mingle whilst it is cooking. Better still. a casserole can be prepared beforehand. All you need to do is to heat and serve.
Another idea is lasagna, served up with a bowl of green salad. Food like this is great for an evening do as it can be made up earlier in the day. It means you’re not stuck in the kitchen as your guests arrrive. If that is too heavy a meal then a smoked or grilled dish can be served. It only takes an occasional peek in the kitchen whilst it is cooking.
Before the party, ensure that any vegan or vegetarian guests are catered for. Offer a vegetable alternative casserole or lasagna. The Internet has lots of vegetarian recipes
Considering it is a bridal shower, you could serve cake as a dessert. However, many bridal showers are moving away from tradition, so feel free to experiment. An assortment of desserts or pies or fruit maybe. A great centrepiece idea could be a chocolate fountain. These are easily rented for the night.
Finger food may be preferred as a lighter alternative. A table laid out with light bites is a great idea. People can just walk up and help themselves and still be able to converse with the other guests. Things like crackers and cheese or dips and tiny muffins are a good choice.
The choice is yours - and of course the bride’s but choosing the food well could mean a great bridal or wedding shower.
